Please refer to the manuscript for further details Samples were collected from sites with permission. Permission and a licence to electric fish was provided by the Environment Agency. Fish euthanising was carried out in line with the 1986 Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act. The project ethics checklist was approved internally.
