Ijezie, Ogochukwu (2024) Structural Equation Modelling of Quality of Life in Adults with Down syndrome in Nigeria - datasets.
1. The data in the quality of life index file was used to develop a normalised quality of life index for adults with Down syndrome, using both self-reports and proxy reports.
2. The survey data contains raw information collected from 224 adults with Down syndrome (self-reports) and 70 caregivers (proxy reports) across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

Statement on legal, ethical and access issues: | To maintain anonymity, changes were made to the published data set for adults with Down syndrome by removing some questions, simplifying others, and eliminating outliers. In adults with Down syndrome (self-reports), the following were removed: • Question 82 - How old are you? • Question 87 – What is the level of intellectual disability (ID) of the participant? Reason: [When exporting the datasets to MS Excel, the question “What is the level of intellectual disability (ID) of the participant?” from the questionnaire for adults with DS was moved to the “Caregivers_Proxy reports” sheet, as the caregivers provided this information on behalf of the adults. • Question 88 - What is the name of the service provider of the participant? • Question 89 - What is your highest level of education? In this question, 2 adults with Down syndrome were removed from the dataset as there were outliers. • Question 90 - What is your marital status? In this question, 10 adults with Down syndrome were removed from the dataset as there were outliers. • Question 94 – Please which of the following communication aids/systems were used during the Personal Outcomes Scale administration? (Please tick all that apply). In this question, 13 adults with Down syndrome were removed from the dataset as there were outliers. In caregivers (proxy reports), the following were removed: • Question 82 - How old are you? • Question 89 - What is your current employment status? In this question, 3 participants were removed as they were classed as outliers. • Question 90 - What is your marital status? In this question, 20 caregivers were removed as they were classed as outliers. • Question 91 - What is your relationship with the adult with Down syndrome? In this question, 34 caregivers were removed as they were classed as outliers. | ||||
