Data collection method:

Sample collection varied per sample type (suction corer, kick sampling and electric fishing). Please refer to the manuscript for further details

Statement on legal, ethical and access issues:

Samples were collected from sites with permission. Permission and a licence to electric fish was provided by the Environment Agency. Fish euthanising was carried out in line with the 1986 Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act. The project ethics checklist was approved internally. Please refer to the manuscript for further details.
